about

If you’re like me, conflict in relationships can be scary. Did I go too far? Share too much? Is this the end? “Kitchen Floor” is a love song for the insecure. An intimate acoustic ballad about reassuring a partner through moments of uncertainty. It worked, for a time. But that’s a story for another day… For now, I hope “Kitchen Floor” gives you comfort. Thanks for listening!

lyrics

We’re sitting on the kitchen floor watching the time go by
You don’t say a word but I guess neither do I
The crumbs from our dinner still look like banquet
You’re leaned by the fridge you’re wrapped in a blanket

Well it’s nights like these I don’t sit where you stand
You gave me a kiss when I asked for your hand
Our voices sit low when the feelings get high
If they gave us a glass we’d break it every time

You say you don’t know well I do
That these seeds don’t sow well it’s true
That we don’t grow but If you knew
it’s you

If you asked for the sun you know I’d pull down the stars
But you question yourself when it’s only my heart
I’m craving the moments that we have to share
You don’t have to ask me If I still care

You say you don’t know well I do
That these seeds don’t sow well it’s true
That we don’t grow but If you knew
it’s you

it’s you

We’re sitting on the kitchen floor watching the time go by

about

Jacob Shipley New York, New York

Jacob Shipley writes, sings, and tells stories about the moments in life we’d rather not repeat. Some of his music is sorrowful, some sardonic and humorous, but all of it comes from a deeply personal place that is easy to connect with because we’ve all been there. Listening to Jacob is like reminiscing with an old friend: not everything was easy, but at least we made it through. ... more
