about

Sometimes, it’s the simple little things that help us understand where we’re going. My new single, “Older,” is a journey through the little quirks of growing up. From contemplating socks to grappling with fading memories and loss, this song navigates the nuances of aging with honesty and humor. I have been playing this song for years and it is one of my most heavily requested releases. I’m excited to finally be putting it out and hope you find it relatable.

lyrics

I think I’m getting older
I’m getting excited about socks
My base temperature is getting colder
I think I’m getting older

I think I’m getting older
I keep buying all these bars of soap
It’s the way I’ve learned to cope
And I’m losing some of my hope
I think I’m getting older

And my friends don’t act the same
I can’t keep up with the game
Soon you’ll forget my name
And I guess I’m craving fame

I think I’m getting older
I’m finding gray hairs everyday
The children are getting bolder
And I think I’m getting older

I think I’m getting older
I love you mom that’s what I told her
And I wish that I could hold her
But I’m worried she’s gonna go away
I think I’m getting older

And I don’t act the same
I’m always playing a new game
I may lose myself to fame
And then I won’t remember my name

I think I’m getting older
I guard my memories like a soldier
I’m losing every day
Because I guess I’m getting older

about

Jacob Shipley New York, New York

Jacob Shipley writes, sings, and tells stories about the moments in life we’d rather not repeat. Some of his music is sorrowful, some sardonic and humorous, but all of it comes from a deeply personal place that is easy to connect with because we’ve all been there. Listening to Jacob is like reminiscing with an old friend: not everything was easy, but at least we made it through. ... more
